Einstein on God by AAtheist Einstein on God by AAtheist
For anybody who doesn't know, or just needs a laugh-the guy on the right is Ray Comfort, if you look him up on youtube and add "Bananaman" to the search I guarantee you wont believe the level of stupidity.

If you like this kind of thing take a look at my facebook page at [link]

Should make one with this quote: "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."

Unfortunately it is highly questionable that he ever actually said that, he did say that God to him was nothing more than the laws of the universe in action, but other than to deny his belief in a personal God he made no attacking comments against religion.

Do you mind if I just apologize for Ray Comfort on behalf of New Zealand?

Not at all, although to be fair it's not entirely a bad thing. While he may do extremely well at convincing uncritical people of his point of view, I can't think of anything better than him at displaying the flaws in creationist logic.

That' true. We're not all like that, though. New Zealand is agnostic to the core.

I beg to differ. It's not so much that they can't understand the full quote. It seems far more likely (Especially in Comfort's case) that they deliberately twist the meaning behind the quote, and purposely leave out important details for the purpose of furthering their backwards bronze age bullshit.

I think that he misuses Occam's Razor: What he doesn't understand he throws away. What is left is his personal translation, not the original thought.

I agree that they certainly do that on a very regular basis, I have to say though that in Ray's case I have difficulty deciding if that's the case or if its just about what he can understand

I'd have to disagree.

In my opinion Ray Comfort makes a very interesting point with the banana,
Could we have been assisted? Who made the right choices? Who was adjusting us?
He so perspicaciously points out that if the banana could have been artificially evolved for us humans, isn't they're at least the wonder that we went through a similar process?

Natural selection was assisting us, it is what made the choices. Study the theory of evolution and it'll make a bit more sense.

Also Ray was trying to say that the banana was perfectly designed for us by god, which is about the biggest fail I have ever come across. I get the feeling that your trolling, because I have never met anybody so gullible as to believe Ray Comfort is intelligent

"Gawd created da bananaa, to fit the human hand. It fits perfectly! Thus=god exists!"

Number one, anyone who knows ANYTHING about the massive amount of agricultural plants that humans have carefully cultivated....knows that this is complete bullshit. HUMANS created plants, and many animals. From Corn to Cows--we've carefully selected the traits that we want--like a good serving size, a good taste, the right color, smell, flavor--And these are traits -we- can put into things, and like purple potatoes--we're still meddling in genetic traits--to good ends! It's literally the earliest form of genetic modification.
Here's my favorite example: The earliest corn that humans cultivated had like 9-11 kernels on it(100's today), the kernels popped off at maturity(they stay on today, making corn entirely dependent on humans to cultivate it), and the actual corn itself was like 1-2 inches long(today it's about 5 inches for some species, 7 for others). These changes were wrought over many many years and it's kind of a testament to human ingenuity and inventiveness, that we can literally remake the things around us into being more useful for us.

Funnily enough the banana that Ray chooses as his example is one of the most humanly engineered fruits in the history of the world. The common yellow banana is so screwed up its actually sterile-it requires humans to "seed" it from parent trees in order to procreate
