The church is not moral. by AAtheist The church is not moral. by AAtheist
To elucidate a bit, the total population of America in 2006 is estimated at about 300,000,000-750 out of 300 million is a very small number, so the chance of anything like this ever happening is TINY.

Further 95% of all (known) child abuse crimes are committed by family or friends of family.

My purpose in this was to show that the church is NOT a moral organization, and most certainly should not be viewed as such.

The purpose of this meme is NOT to scaremonger, there is no doubt that the danger of child abuse is VERY real and should certainly be considered by all parents, but you should not be paralyzed by fear.

I took the figures for Penn and Teller's bullshit episode "Stranger Danger" which can be found here [link] It is something a lot of parents should watch.

Knowing that Penn and Teller don't always get it right, I have checked up on the figures myself and they do appear to be accurate.

If you like this kind of thing take a look at my facebook page at [link]

The pope lately said, that there is no excuse for using violence in the name of god! How cynical!Facepalm

  1. In Italy, the Inquisition was condemning people to death until the end of the eighteenth century, and inquisitional torture was not abolished in the Catholic Church until 1816. The last bastion of support for the reality of witchcraft and the necessity of punishment has been the Christian churches. [Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World, p. 413, from James A. This is why no one goes to church anymore because they seriously believe in God. Or if they do, they are few, and if you are one of those few people, I envy you for your faith, because it's things like this that have cost so many people like me ours. Virtually everyone I know who goes to church on Sunday only really do so because it's part of the weekly habit they were part of growing up; the same as it was for their parents and generations before.

It's sad, but there's just too much horrible stuff going on in the world that makes you question if God exists, doesn't care, or is sitting back and laughing in amusement at our suffering.

It's a shame, but it's true.

What is it with Catholic priests and little kids? Serious question here.

It's like each religion in the world has there own little thing that they like to exploit. I'm beginning to think some of them have this planned out and are just trolling us...

That is, unfortunately, a damn good question.

Damn straight. Also.... everyone should watch most of Penn & Teller; Bullshit. Sure, there have been a few cases where they were *considered* to be wrong, but most of the stuff they present is completely logical and educational.

It's still laughable that these people continue to think they are the most moral beings, when in fact, everything they do and say is a complete contradiction of their own teachings, thus by their standards, they are completely immoral. Well, by any reasonable persons standards, actually.
